Our overriding objective is to bring a diverse community together through the growing and cooking of organic products, by doing so we encourage them to take care of their mental and physical health. We cook our own produce and support the local economy by buying locally at both markets.
All of our members are local community volunteers, at present one of our volunteers is growing his chillis that will feature in our range in the near future. He is also a fantastic cook and has continued to cook our home made range.
The project will continue to thrive through the investment of more local volunteers through their passions and commitment. Our volunteer Treasurer has benefited from formal financial training at a not-for-profit local financial training organization.
The community around the site is widely diverse, people do come together in big community events such as the Nottinghill Carnival or the Goldborne festival but these are annual events only.
The Portobello/Golborne Markets nearby are a common link to all communities in area and have a large food element. In both the markets food is a universal language. There is a desire for the community to be more united in an easily accessible way.
Volunteering with wide scale benefits.
Our volunteers really get stuck in, they have cooked for the Mayor of Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, have helped design and execute garden design projects. Have cooked and sampled on Portobello Market as Part of Road food* see separate entry. They have become TV stars in Tokyo!!
